I've had this site up for about four years and I've never really advertised on it, but I've decided to give it a try. In addition to a couple affiliate links, I'm testing out both Adsense and Adbrite to see which works best.
Looking at the Adsense ads, I get how they work... they pull keywords from my posts and target the ads towards that. Like, since I just wrote about Oprah's farm animal show, most of them have to do with farm animals. See? Someone's selling baby farm animals, pictures of baby animals, animal feed and grain, cattle videos...
The Adbrite one, on the other hand is trying to get people to buy ninja swords and ninja gear right now. I mean, where did that come from?
They've linked to someone selling "throwing knives" and something called "hand claws." Does that appeal to anyone reading this site? What would make them put that ad up?
I would take it down, but I kind of want to wait and see what else they come up with.
PS - Now that I just wrote "Ninja swords," "hand claws," and "throwing knives," it's never going to go away.
PPS - Whatever you do, DON'T CLICK IT! I want it to go away.
PPPS - If you have to scroll to accommodate the new width, please let me know in the comments section. I checked my sitemeter to see what most people's monitor resolution is and I thought everybody would be able to see it without scrolling. (Yes, sitemeter tracks things like this, isn't that freaky?)
